Dorothy Jean (Downing) Hall was born on January 16, 1920 as the daughter of Walter and Vera (Grant) Downing.

In the 1940 census, she was living as a boarder in a home at 415 South Wyandotte Street in Tecumseh, Lenawee County, Michigan and was listed as an "assistant teacher" who had completed 2 years of college.

She was married to Garth Hall on August 14, 1940 who Together, they had five children including:

1. Karen (Hall) Strahl

2. Baby Boy (1943-1943)

3. Barry Grant Hall

4. Kathleen (Hall) Ledesma

5. Marc Hall

Garth who was born on October 30, 1912, died on March 9, 1961 in Tecumseh at the age of 48.

Dorothy later married John Doughty but they had no children.

She died in 1995 at the age of 75 and is buried in Brookside Cemetery in Tecumseh.
