WWII Coast Guard
Clyde W. Oliver, 82, of Arizona, formerly of Benton Harbor, died
May 7, 1995, in Arizona.
Memorial services were held May 11 at University Presbyterian
Church, Tempe, Ariz. A visitation will be held at 1 p.m.
Saturday at Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, Mich., followed by a
graveside service at Ridgeway Cemetery, Ridgeway, Mich.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or
Fairplain Presbyterian Church, 210 W. Napier Ave., Benton
Harbor, of which he was a charter member.
Mr. Oliver was born June 22, 1913, in Britton, Mich. He was a
graduate of Britton High School and Eastern Michigan University.
While attending law school at Wayne State University, he
enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II, serving in
Alaska and the Aleutian Islands. He retired from Whirlpool Corp.
in 1978, after 23 years. He moved to Arizona from Benton Harbor
in 1982.
Survivors include: his wife, the former Lillian Hunt, whom he
married Dec. 28, 1943; and a daughter, Susan Oliver of
Scottsdale, Ariz.
